GraphStaff is the company brain

Something on this site changed, and it is worth saying plainly.

GraphStaff used to cover three products under one roof: developer documentation, customer knowledge hubs, and the company brain. We have narrowed to one. GraphStaff is the company brain. The developer documentation product that grew up alongside it now lives elsewhere as its own thing, and this site no longer tries to be about everything.

What the company brain is

GraphStaff connects your company knowledge into one governed knowledge graph and answers questions from it, with permissions applied before anything is retrieved. People ask through search and Ask AI. AI agents ask through a governed MCP gateway. Claude, ChatGPT, coding agents, and your own AI infrastructure all draw from the same source, and you can swap models without rebuilding the knowledge layer underneath.

The part we want to get right

For a while we described this as one governed source handing everyone an identical answer. That was the wrong way to say it, and we have stopped saying it.

The shared thing is the brain, not the answer. One governed source of truth, yes. But the answer fits the asker. An engineer gets depth. A new hire gets orientation. An executive gets the summary. An AI agent gets grounded, permission-filtered context. The differences are not mysterious: every answer shows its sources, and they trace back to permissions and scope. Different people getting different answers is the product working correctly, not a compromise.

Why narrow now

A company brain is not a side feature. It has to be governed, permission-aware, and implemented carefully before it can answer for a whole company. That is enough to focus on. Doing one thing well is a better promise than doing three things adequately.
